Karlsruhe lies in the heart of Europe, which makes reaching most European capitals an easy task, should you wish to stay in Europe for more than just the time of the conference. Here is a detailed guide on how to reach Karlsruhe. On our Tourist Information Page you can get further information about possible destinations before or after the conference and some general information about the stay in Germany.

The easiest way to reach Karlsruhe is by train. The highspeed railway connects most European cities as well as the airport hubs, such as Frankfurt or Paris. Travellers from abroad should try to get a flight to Frankfurt am Main International airport (FRA). Close distance flights might be available to the airport Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) which services some flights inside Europe as well as Moscow, but travellers should be wary of the difficulty of getting to Karlsruhe from this airport. The second alternative would be Stuttgart airport (STR) which is close to Karlsruhe.

Once landed in Germany, there are multiple ways of getting from the airports to the city of Karlsruhe. The cheapest way would be by bus, as there is an intercity bus company going to Karlsruhe.

A more comfortable way is by train. High speed trains such as the Intercity Express (ICE) can be booked on the Deutsche Bahn website, at the stations (our recommendation) or also in the train (marginally more expensive). Frankfurt Airport has a rail terminal (Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof), Karlsruhe is less than 90 mins away.  Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) is the main station of the city, and most hotels can be reached from there in less than half an hour via tram or by taxi. The A&O-Hostel and the Schlosshotel are right at the station, the other hotels on our webpage are closer to the conference venue.

The third possible mode of transportation is the car, most airports offer car rental services, but this option is also the most expensive one and the drop-off in Karlsruhe itself might be tricky. Frankfurt airport is connected to Karlsruhe via the Autobahn A5.
